“Clair Popkin is a master Director of Photography. At the moment this photo was taken he was on a mission to get a 30lb lens with a heavy duty tripod and stuff into that location. Alex was climbing an epic route in Morocco and for this particular shot that was the right tool for the job. Clair shot much of the verite scenes in Free Solo but he also ended up being asked to keep up with a professional climbing high angle team throughout the production.“
