“I went to Chapman university to study film,” says production designer Alec Contestabile, “and that is really where I fell in love with production design, and creating worlds and sets, and its partly because I was one of the few people at the school who knew how to build and make things.” After graduation, one of his professors got him into an internship on The Amazing Spiderman, which led Contestabile to a job working on Mad Men where he met Jonathan Carlos, the production designer of Hacks for the first season. When Carlos became busy with other projects, he recommended Contestabile as his season 2 replacement.
